Paeonia arietina Northern Glory. I am unsure whether it is a ‘pure’ selection as it never sets seeds and I never got any results from its pollen, so I’d rather think it is a hybrid (and I’ve seen images of the supposedly same cultivar that cannot be the same, so there are others being sold under the same name). I have another P. arietina, which you can see in the fourth picture on the left of it and which has only started growing recently. That one blooms much much later. It does look like an arietina with the hairs on the sepals, stems and petioles, although a strongly ‘improved’ one with sturdier stems, larger flowers and prettier foliage. It is an easy grower and grows as well in full sun as in shade, although from my experience it is better under some shade, blooming somewhat later. It can use some protection from strong winds, looking much neater then. I find it an attractive cultivar.
