Seedling No. NB6. Parentage: ‘Sedona’ x ‘Autumn Harvest’. Advanced generation lutea hybrid. First bloomed 2010, first propagated 2013. Very large SEMI-DOUBLE to DOUBLE flowers (7 inches (18 cm)), up to 3 per stem, the side buds extending the bloom season. Petals have a cream base, overlain with dusty smoky old rose pink. Short red flares less than ⅓ of petal length. Petals are highly ruffled, creating a full-looking flower. Four to 5 carpels, creamy green in color, sparsely hairy, with cream colored stigmas. Fully developed cream colored sheath. Pollen bearing stamens with red filaments. Fertile both ways. Excellent outward carriage of flowers on strong stems. Has large broad deep green leaves which are dissected and pointed. Woody stems have shown better than average cold hardiness and longevity. Plants grow to 4 feet (122 mm), are taller than wide, and perform consistently from year to year. Named for Kris Casey to recognize her enjoyment of long walks along the beach in Door County. —Nate Bremer – “Kris is responsible for getting me interested in woody peonies and introducing me to Bill Seidl, for which I am eternally grateful.”
