Seedling # IC-95-28. Parentage: Lactiflora ‘MARTHA W.’ x lutea hybrid tree peony, ‘GOLDEN ERA’. First bloomed 2002. Predominantly single, occasionally semi-double. Flowers average about 6 inches across and generally have between 14 to 18 petals, 2-3 buds per stem. Stamens and pollen, no seeds. Carpels are pale green, smooth. Mature flowers are very pale creamy yellow or light cream. On first opening they are heavily flushed with lavender pink. As the pink slowly fades, the mature flowers become cream that is delicately flushed with light pink which deepens slightly towards the petal’s edge. Large cherry red central flares are always very prominent. An attractive center contains 3-4 light green carpels tipped with dark pink stigmata enclosed in a cream colored sheath, and all surrounded by a dense tight ring of yellow stamens. Flowers are beautifully displayed just outside the foliage on upright to slightly arching stems, making this an outstanding landscape variety. An excellent bloomer with abundant flowers from mid to late season and a bloom period of up to 2 ½ weeks. Dome-shaped, symmetrical plant with a height of 29″. Typical intersectional foliage is dark green, highly disease resistant and lasts well into autumn. Mild but pleasant fragrance.
