Peony ‘High Noon’ may possibly be one of Professor Saunders most well known hybrid tree peonies. It was introduced in 1952, a year before his death. Unusual for tree peonies, it blooms not only in late spring but also again in late summer or early fall. ‘High Noon’ has lemon yellow buds that open to a buttery yellow blossom with deep red flares at the base and carries a light but sweet lemon fragrance. Its blooms can reach 8” in diameter and will fade as it matures through beautiful tones of primrose and cream. Lucky for us, it is known as one of the easiest tree peonies to grow. . . Originator: A.P.
