Seedling Seidl #180. Parentage: ‘Boreas’ x Seidl #39 [#39 is ‘Golden Era’ x ‘Chinese Dragon’]. Advanced generation lutea hybrid. Deep red-violet colored semi-double flowers, 1 per stem, 5 inches in size (13 cm). Wavy petals are notched. Carpels pale green; red-violet stigmas, red sheath and stamens with filaments red, becoming lighter toward anthers. Produces seed, no pollen to date. Flowers are carried outward on well foliated plants of deep green. Plants are vigorous and produce many ground shoots. Easily propagated through grafting and division. Named to retain Bill Seidl’s garden name which he chose for wild blackberry coloration when fruit is mashed.
