As you suggest, I will contact the ‘private’ specialised groups you mention.

I have ordered peonies to the belgian ‘nursery’ Albiflora (at albiflora.be) which are guaranteed as the true species: P. boduri, kesrouanensis, broteri, lactiflora and cambessedesis. I also grow peonies from seed with success.

As a member of the Société des Amateurs de Jardins Alpins for 30 years I have the complete series of articles written by Eric Schmitt. His peony collection is now managed by the Jardin botanique de Lyon and I will contact the person in charge of it.
