growing from seed – temperatur for germinating –

I saw it 🙂 Nice to see the roots and indeed they don’t seem to grow new roots from the crown. Would make a challenging candidate to divide… Pity about the deer eating it of course. I have planted a root received from Giessler in Germany which looked rather...

Reply To: Early forcing of peonies (hoop houses and GA3)
Hello, the humidity was always too high during the growing period in the hoop house, which should have caused many diseases, especially botrytis. Would you pay attention to the method of vegetable’s early forcing in hoop? To cover the whole ground in the hoop with mulching film, and let...

Thanks for your soon reply. You do try your best to find out many important details, such as “mow down on June 1st work fine”,GA3 does not help, etc. Itoh peonies do bloom quickly and have quite short vase life. Still there are some methods to extend the life of the...

Hello Linda, Yes I have. It has always worked, although some additional remarks can be made. One year I’ve cut them down in the same month three times, to spread the flowering time in Summer. Each 10 days later meant far fewer flowers. Here in Belgium peonies usually flower...

I guess the three months in a warm spot was good. That will have broken the first dormancy of the roots. But these roots will normally only start growing at intermediate temperatures, thus somewhere 10-15°C, not at low temperatures in the refrigerator. At intermediate temperature, which is lower than...
