Seedling number 15. Parentage: “Zi Pao Jin Dai” x unknown pollen. First year bloomed 2008; first propagated 2010. Non-standard flower form for APS exhibition purposes. In the early 20th century, this would probably have qualified as a “crown” type. In China it is representative of the Golden-Circle form, which is a flower that is divided top from bottom by a ring of stamens. The flower below the stamen belt is 6 inches (15 cm) in size while the upper part approaches 4½ inches (11 cm). Guard petals and center petals are purplish red and are divided by a ring of yellow, pollen bearing stamens. It has an average of 4 green carpels, moderately hairy, having yellowish green normal stigmas capable of seed production. Very fragrant and very resistant to heat and humidity. Foliage is green on emergence from the ground, and broad pointed. Upright growth to 34 inches (85 cm). Midseason bloom. Named for the uniform (red robes and gold belts) worn by qualifying senior government officials in ancient China.
