First bloomed 2013, first propagated 2014. Parentage: ‘Lian Tai’ open pollinated. Blooms mid-season. Technically an ANEMONE flower form which would be shown in the JAPANESE classes at American Peony Society flower exhibitions. A base made up of two rows of rounded, bright mauve-pink guard petals holds a nicely formed ball of petalodes of like color. Flowers are 5 inches (12.5 cm) in size and on average there are 3 per stem. Stamens absent. Carpels generally 2 in number, light green, sparsely hairy, and capable of seed production. Stigmas are white and have normal form. Fragrant. Early foliage yellow-green, matures green with narrow-pointed leaflets. Height to 30 inches (75 cm). Strong stems with upright growth habit spreading to 26 inches (65 cm) without mechanical support. The name expresses the idea that the boss of center petalodes represents the face of a lion while the guard petals are its mane, hence a pink lioness playing in the garden.
