Seedling number LSW1. Parentage: ‘Laddie’ x ‘Sparkling Windflower’. First bloomed mid 1970’s. Propagated since 1980’s. Has had distribution under seedling number. The SINGLE scarlet red flowers have 12 petals and are arranged in 2 rows. Petals have an obcordate notch. Average of 3 pale light green carpels are covered in tiny white hairs. Stigmas and filaments are red. Bright yellow anthers provide sharp contrast to the flower color. Flowers are small and held on 24 inch, sturdy stems. Foliage is deeply cut with many pointed lobes per leaf. Fertile with other diploids. Early blooming. Named to commemorate Robert Burns, Scottish poet and Lyricist.
